Steph

Owner

Steph is the owner, master gardener, and resident flower namer at Freakin Cheerful. She lives with multiple chronic illnesses, including MCAS/EDS/POTS, fibromyalgia, chronic migraine, and generalized anxiety disorder. Steph grows flowers to treat and improve her symptoms, and she loves to help others find healing and relief as well.

Originally from Dallas, TX, Steph is a social practice artist with a BA in Art and Performance from the University of Texas at Dallas. Applying social practice to a flower farm setting creates an amazing space for eduction and healing. As a graduate of the Floret Workshop, Steph is able to help more people to grow more flowers, even in hot humid places, and even with challenges related to physical and mental health.

Steph is a proud member of the queer community. As a bisexual woman, she welcomes all and aims to create a safe space for all at Freakin Cheerful.

Jason

Head Photographer

Jason is the master photographer, critter wrangler, and flower bed builder at Freakin Cheerful. He is Steph's husband of 24 years and helps make her wild ideas come to life.

One such idea was that one day Jason could be in charge of vegetable gardening, but given Jason's mixed opinion of vegetables, this may remain just a dream.
